A bit about me.
Some of my earliest memories revolve around the hours I would spend drawing my realistic toy horse. I’d place my horse in the center of the table and analyze every inch of it, drawing it over and over again until I felt happy with my efforts. I think even back then I knew creating art would be a lifelong love-affair.
in 2011 I met my husband while on a study abroad in Beijing, China and quickly learned how perfect a match he was for me. I knew instantly he would be the kind of person who wouldn’t keep me from pursuing my goals and aspirations. In fact, it was his idea that I go back to school and get a second degree—this time in what I actually wanted to study: fine art. So here we are, me, my husband, two cute kids, and a loyal standard poodle, living in our small little corner of the Sonoran desert, trying to balance family, work, and dreams.
I enjoy working with watercolor, pencil, ballpoint pen, charcoal, oil paint, and nonconventional materials. My art is realistic in nature, but I also like to bring 3D conceptual art into the mix. The themes I gravitate towards are spiritual, humanity, the feminine divine, nature, and exploring my roots as a Mexican-American and Native American.
Also, if you got this far, I figure I should tell you how you pronounce my name: (Jee・dee-ah・nee).
